This paper explores the relationship between FDI and economic growth based on BRICS data and compares the results of high-income countries. For the BRICS countries, FDI and economic growth are closely linked. Generally speaking, for every 10% increase in FDI, GDP will increase by 0.1%. The effect of BRICS FDI on the economy is generally higher than that of developed countries. With the consideration of human capital, the coefficients of FDI decrease slightly, indicating that the direct contribution of FDI to economic growth is overestimated. A large part of contribution is made through technological transformation of human capital so as to promote economic development.
