This article examines the impact of requests for academic achievement on long-term or continuous librarianship. After reviewing the available literature, the authors provided the results of a survey of research-based universities that could award PhDs or master’s degrees. Of the 690 schools surveyed, 53.3% practiced tenure-track librarian hiring. Among them, more than 60% of the schools require librarians to publish academic achievements and 34.6% of schools encourage librarians to publish academic achievements. Of the 3 74 schools, 92.2% of librarians were approved during a three-year long-term employment assessment. The author also analyzed the situation of librarians who failed to pass the examination and those who resigned to avoid the examination.
