尽管固态微波器件取得了一些进展,行波管仍然是微波通信系统的一个基本元件,而新系统发展的结果为行波管开辟了一个巨大市场。本文考虑几个应用方面:大容量无线电中继通信,通信卫星,地面站。在越来越高的频率下这些应用,要求对行波管族的较高效率,较小体积,较长寿命,容易操作,适用于数字技术等方面继续进行技术改进。对汤姆逊·无线电公司最近的制管作了实例说明。
Despite advances made in solid-state microwave devices, traveling-wave tubes are still an essential component of microwave communication systems and the result of the new system opens up a huge market for traveling-wave tubes. This article considers several applications: high-capacity radio relay communications, communications satellites, ground stations. At higher and higher frequencies, these applications require continued technical improvements in the higher efficiency, smaller size, longer life, ease of operation and adaptation to digital technologies of traveling wave tube families. An example is given of the recent pipe making by Thomson Radio.
