西藏和平解放后,经过11万藏汉军民筑路大军近5年艰苦卓绝的奋斗,跨越怒江,横断昆仑,渡通天河,打通二郎山,征服唐古拉,挖填土石3000多万立方米,修建桥梁400余座,3000志士英勇捐躯,终于使青藏、川藏两条公路干线1954年12月25日同时通车拉萨。永远结束了旧西藏“栈道溜索,人背畜驮”的运输方式,开创了西藏公路交通的新纪元,也揭开了公路养管工作的序幕。
