妈祖阁是澳门著名的八景之一,大门两侧“德周化宇 泽润生民”八个赫然大字,熠熠放光,气宇轩昂,两只石狮镇门,飞檐凌空,是一座富有中国民族特色的古建筑。一般人称澳门开埠400多年,这是指从渔村逐步变成城市的过程,但妈阁庙至今已逾500年。有史可考的记载始见于我国明朝孝宗弘治元年,它是澳门三大禅院的最古者,故有“先有妈阁后有澳门”之说。

However, A-Ma Temple has been in existence for more than 500 years. The records of history can be found in the first year of Hongxiao Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty. It is the oldest of the three major Buddhist temples in Macau.
