薇拉.凯瑟的经典之作《我的安东妮亚》可以称得上是美国文学中人物小说的典范。该小说在人物刻画上的主要特色是大量使用人物并置对照手法,实现了人物与小说结构、主题的完美结合。本文主要以《我的安东妮亚》为例,结合谬尔有关人物小说的理论,从情节与人物各自的特点入手,分析薇拉.凯瑟作品的人物小说特色,并在此基础上,通过分析人物与小说结构、主题的关系,来解读凯瑟独特的人物并置对照技巧。
Vera Cather’s classic “My Antonia” can be regarded as a model of American novels.
