Today's sustainable development has become a global issue. Especially in the landscape planning and design with the main research object of nature and environment, sustainable development is particularly important. As a guide to the design of energy and the environment (LEEDTM), a tool for sustainable development and green design, this article describes its historical background in the United States and its implications for site sustainability, efficient use of water, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, Indoor environmental quality, innovation and design process of these six major elements. Based on the analysis of the possible harm to the environment, especially the natural water, and the adverse consequences caused by the planning and design, this paper elaborates the strategy of low-impact development, rainwater collection and reuse of water, and reviews the guidelines of energy and environment design (LEEDTM) related provisions on the protection of water bodies, one by one on the United States in its landscape planning and design of integrated practical protection and effective role of water bodies. This provides a useful reference for China's green design evaluation system and integrated water conservation strategy in landscape planning and design.
