By comparing some important zaju brick carvings and stone carvings found in the Song Jin tombs in the south of Henan Province, the author attempts to discuss the changes of the forms and meanings of the performances in the tombs at that time and the related development of the funeral consciousness reflected in them. Jin Dynasty Jinnan’s comedy show is not only popular secular entertainment, but also the local temple tournament is an important remuneration amusement way. At that time, various forms of zaju brick carving in tombs were no longer understood as a simple reproduction of the stage image. They, for the local population, may contain some ceremonial function of ancestral prayers.
