A continuous vibration impedance method is proposed to monitor the hybrid damage of two types of prestressed reinforced concrete bridges (ie, prestressed tendons or beam damage). The monitoring consists of three steps: In the first step, the overall damage is warned by monitoring the changes in the acceleration signal. The second step, through the vibration and impedance identification mode, the damage type is divided into prestressed tendons damage or beam damage. Thirdly, based on the shape mode and frequency method, the feasibility of the proposed system was evaluated by measuring the acceleration response and the electromechanical impedance of several tendons and beams in the laboratory.
