George Herbert Meade (1863-1931) is one of the main representatives of pragmatism. His work has a profound impact on the development of American social science. Although Dewey and Whitehead strongly admired Mead, most philosophers tended to lose sight of the fact that his ideas were not immediately accepted before his death.
