Objective: To investigate the changes of serum TNF-α, IGF-Ⅱ, GM-CSF and VEGF in children with acute nephritis. Methods: Serum levels of TNF-α, IGF-Ⅱ, GM-CSF and VEGF were measured in 67 pediatric patients with acute nephritis before and after treatment by radioimmunoassay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. TNF-α, IGF-Ⅱ, GM-CSF and VEGF levels were compared. Results: The levels of TNF-α, IGF-Ⅱ, GMCSF and VEGF in children group before and after treatment were significantly higher than those in normal children (P <0.05). The levels of TNF-α in children with acute nephritis before treatment were positively correlated with the levels of IGF-Ⅱ, GMCSF and VEGF. Conclusion: The levels of TNF-α, IGF-Ⅱ, GM-CSF and VEGF are closely related to the occurrence and development of acute nephritis in children.
