通过计算机网络向国内外用户提供北京图书馆的各种信息服务,使用户在异地即可方便快捷地利用北图的各种文献数据资源,是北京图书馆在信息时代努力的方向。 1996年7月,北京图书馆开始通过瀛海威科技有限责任公司的网络,将’92年以来15万条馆藏书目记录提供给用户。书目数据中包括:馆藏登记号、索书号、题名、责任者、出版者、出版日期、页码、书价等8项。其中以分类、题名、责任者为主要检索途径。 9月,北京图书馆又在北京科利华电脑有限责任公司的网络上,将这些书目数据提供给用户。科利华网上的书目数据除包含以上所述8项,还增加了ISBN号。检索途径与瀛海威网相同。
