第四纪是地球漫长的发展历史中最新的一页,是目前正在经历着的地质阶段。而地震是地质现象,是地质构造活动的一种形式。显然,研究地震必须研究地质,必须研究第四纪地质,这是不言而喻的事情。但是,系统地全面地将第四纪地质学基本理论与方法引入地震地质研究中来却还不多,特别是许多地震地质工作者原来从事老构造工作,对第四纪地质学比较陌生,未予重视,甚至产生某些误解。地震地质工作不能深入下去,这也是原因之一。
Quaternary is the latest page in the long history of Earth’s development and is the geological stage currently undergoing.
