Studying the influence of cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) on the thermal stability of DNA molecules is of great significance for understanding the interaction between cationic surfactants and DNA. The effect of CTAB on the DNA thermostability of salmon sperm DNA and its degraded herring sperm DNA was studied by differential scanning calorimetry and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The thermal stability of salmon sperm DNA was reduced by CTAB, but the degree of decrease with the CTAB concentration Increase first and then decrease; CTAB makes herring sperm DNA undergo two-stage melting behavior.
