Through the analysis of the cross-section of the regional change of total factor productivity and the decomposition in different periods, the empirical analysis of this paper finds that both import trade and foreign direct investment have a positive effect on the improvement of total factor productivity. This shows that, Under the precondition of overall trade policy, strengthening import and introducing FDI is a better way to increase total factor productivity.
