“唾壶”,一作“唾盂”,是今日“痰盂”的前身。历史上,人们使用此物甚早,起码在战国时代就有了。《西京杂记》卷三六:“魏襄王冢……中有石床……床上有玉唾壶一枚。”魏襄王是战国魏君,死于公元前296年。这是文献中有关唾壶的最早记载。襄壶的形制,大约比现在的盂要小。放置的地方不是在床脚或墙角,而是置于几上,或在几旁。《晋书·王敦传》称王敦酒后一边歌咏魏武乐府“老骥伏枥”,
“Spit pot”, a “saliva spit”, is today’s “Spittoon” predecessor. Historically, people use this thing very early, at least in the Warring States era. “Xijing Miscellanies” volume thirty-six: “Wei Xiang king mound ...... in stone beds ... ... there is a jade saliva pot on the bed.” Wei Xiang king is the Warring States Wei, died in 296 BC. This is the earliest record of saliva in the literature. The shape of the pot is about smaller than it is now. The place is not in the foot or corner of the bed, but placed on a few, or in a few. “Jin Shu Wang Dun Chuan,” said Wang Dundong song on the side of the song Wei Wu Yue House, “the old man stable”
