Introduction This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the signing by China and the United States of the U.S. announcement on the issue of arms sales to Taiwan (the “August 17 Communique”). The “August 17 Communique,” as one of the “Three Joint Communiques” during the normalization of the Sino-U.S. Relations, was of great significance to the then Sino-U.S. Relations.
