The influence of different recycled sludge ratio（R） in low dissolved oxygen condition（0.2-0.9 mg/L） on nitrogen and phosphorus removal in modified carrousel oxidation ditch was investigated using domestic sewage. The results show that the highest removal rate of ammonia nitrogen（NH4-N）,total nitrogen（TN）,total phosphorus（TP）and Chemical Oxygen Demand（COD）were achieved when the sludge return ratio was 60%. The average effluent of NH4-N, TN, TP and COD were 2.18 mg/L, 9.0 mg/L, 0.37 mg/L,33 mg/L,meeting the first level A criteria specified in Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastwater Treatment Plant（GB 18918-2002）.
