Endometriosis is a clinical entity characterized by the presence of endometrial mucosa in locations other than the uterus.The ectopic tissue is exactly the same with the normal endometrial tissue, expressing the same steroid receptors.This fact leads to the response of the implanted locations in the normal cyclic hormonal mileu.Despite the fact that endometriosis is more common in the pelvis, extrapelvic endometriosis has also been reported.
