  Lysine specific demethylase 1(LSD1),the first identified histone lysine demethylase by Yang Shi group in 2004[1],specifically catalyzes demethylation of mono-and di-methylated lysine 4 and lysine 9 of histone 3,key chromatin marks associated with transcriptional activation and repression[2].
