云南是生物多样性最丰富的省份，是动植物王国和药物资源富集区。云南依托天然药物资源和民族医药优势，在发掘和利用天然药物方面取得了重大进展。因此，保护云南丰富的生物多样性和民族文化多样性也就是保护云南民族医药的多样性。
