The purpose of this presentation is to review the investigations since 2001 carried out in my laboratory employing a new, non-invasive technology called Whole Body Periodic Acceleration (WBPA or pGz) in the management of global and localized, cardiac ischemia reperfusion injury.Because WBPA increases pulsatile shear stress onto the endothelium,it provides a plethora of cardioprotective measures either directly or through up-regulating genes or by affecting transcription factors as a result of release of mediators from the endothelium.
