Periodic acceleration in the direction of the spinal axis through repetitive movements increases shear stress to the vascular endothelium.We assessed whether whole-body periodic acceleration with a new device enhanced endothelial function in sedentary adult volunteers.Methods and Results: We enrolled twenty-six subjects (44 ± 3 years; 12 women,8 men) not taking any medication.Each subject was randomly assigned to remain sedentary or perform exercise training for 4 weeks (20 sessions), followed by cross-over.
