The palladium-catalyzed[1] cyclization-allylation reaction of ortho-azido propyn-ylbenzenes 1 and allyl methyl carbonate 2 gives the corresponding 3,4-di-allylquinolines 3 and 3-allylquinolines 4 in moderate to good yields.For example, the reaction of 1-azido-2-(2-propynyl) benzene[2] 1a proceeds smoothly with Pd(PPh3)4 and K3PO4 in DMF at 100 ℃ to afford 3, 4-diallylquinoline 3a or allylquinoline 4 in 69 % or 67% yield.
