[作者档案] 雨果是19世纪前期积极浪漫主义文学运动的领袖,是法国文学史上当之无愧的最伟大的诗人和小说家之一。他才华横溢,创作力经久不衰,文学生涯长达半个世纪,被誉为十九世纪法国浪漫主义最杰出的代表。他一生经历了漫长而动荡的历史时期,贯穿他一生活动和创作的主导思想是人道主义、反对暴力、以爱制“恶”,浪漫派代表作《巴黎圣母院》集中体现了他所提倡的“美丑对照”原则。《巴黎圣母院》运用夸张和强化笔法将美与丑塑造到极致,使读者在悲剧中参悟善与恶、理解人性。代表作还有《悲惨世界》等。
