据香港《商业编辑》杂志刊文介绍:商学鸣拥有H·美胜香港有限公司的一半股份,是世界上成交金额排列第三位的大棉花商。商学鸣是宁波奉化南浦乡商家村人,1942年出生在上海。父亲商后照,在上海精密医疗仪器厂工作。商学鸣的小学和中学时代都是在新中国的上海度过的。高中毕业以后,他考上了北京的纺织学院,学习纺织专业,打下了有关棉花和纺织知识的基础。大学毕业以后,获得工程师的职称。1962年,商学鸣离开上海来到香港。经过7年时间的滚爬,他进入安泰实业有限纺织公司任董事经理一职。这个公司是美国H·美胜公司在香港的总代理。安泰公司老板是F·S·姚,他也是宁波人,毕业于英国曼彻斯特大学,当时是香港最有经验的棉花商之一。商学鸣从姚先生那里学到了如何做棉花生意的大量经验。商
