列车平均总重受区段图定牵引定数、编组计划、空车走行率、欠重列车、不良天气和乘务员操纵水平等因素影响,通过分析各项影响因素,提出提高列车平均总重的措施:合理调整区段机型,提高区段图定牵引定数;充分发挥辅助编组站的作用,组织直达列车进行补轴作业;合理调整管内空车配装,减少空车走行公里;多组织开行超重列车,减少欠重列车的开行;对原有机车适当技术改造,提高不良天气下的列车牵引质量。
