汉英翻译实践中,国俗词语的翻译是一个不小的难题。在翻译《幽梦影》的过程中,对其中文化意蕴深厚而无法用简短语言解释清楚的国俗词语,林语堂先生主要采取归化、归化与异化结合的翻译策略,应用了泛化和加注的方法。这种策略指导下生成的译文明白晓畅,为目的读者扫清了阅读上的障碍,但也造成了源语文化信息的部分甚至全部缺失。这些文化信息的缺失,主要是因为源语和目的语语言文化的不对应或不完全对应,换言之,是由于目的语语言文化的表现力有限造成的。
In the practice of Chinese-English translation, the translation of Chinese idioms is not a small problem. In the process of translating “Hsueh-yang”, in terms of the national language with deep cultural connotation which can not be explained clearly by short language, Mr. Lin Yutang mainly adopts the translation strategy combining domestication, naturalization and alienation, Note the method. The translations generated under the guidance of this strategy are clear and understandable, clearing the barriers to reading for the purpose of readers, but also causing some or all of the missing source cultural information. The lack of these cultural information is mainly due to the incompatible or incomplete correspondence between the source language and the target language and culture, in other words, due to the limited expressive power of the target language and culture.
