毛泽东同志说得好:“除了别的特点以外,这六亿多人口的显著特点是一穷二白。这看来是坏事,其实是好事。穷则思变,要干,要革命。一张白纸,没有负担,好写最新最美的文字,好画最新最美的画图。”事实不正是如此吗?我们的六亿多人口在革命觉悟高涨和革命斗争胜利的速度方面,已经远远地超过了西方最发达的资本主义国家,而在经济文化发展的速度方面,也必然远远地超过他们。在历史上,永远是后来者居上,永远是暂时显得弱小的、代表进步方面的、新生的事物战胜那些表面上似乎强大的、代表保守方面的、趋向死亡的事物。我们必然在很短的历史时期内把世界上所有的资本主义国家远远地抛在我们后面。既然如此,我们难道还不应当相信自己,迅速同那些迷信、恐惧、自卑感等等宣告决裂吗?——摘自中共中央委员会向八大二次会议的工作报告
