“造业”“冤业”“解冤洗业”“消灾洗业”“业障”等词语见于《红楼梦》各情节,这现象反映了佛教观念“业”已渗入各种汉语语境。不过,从《红楼梦》古抄本和程刻本我们可以看到“孽”取代“业”的迹象。本文以异文问题和观念词为讨论的起点,探索“业”和“孽”的初义和实际用法,并推断两字日渐混同、相通的缘由。此外,《红楼梦》故事的若干情节脉络明显是根据“业报”观念来设定的,这可能是作者世界观的反映。不过,《红楼梦》第八十回后的原稿不存于世,我们无法得知作者是否由始至终都服膺佛教业报观。另一方面,《红楼梦》读者心中也有“业”的观念,他们评论《红楼梦》时,同样运用了“孽”和“业力”观念。

In addition, some episodes of the story of ”Dream of Red Mansions“ are clearly set according to the concept of ”industry newspaper“, which may be a reflection of the author’s world outlook. However, the manuscript after the 80th back in ”A Dream of Red Mansions“ does not exist in the world. We can not know whether the author has been acclaimed as a Buddhist manner from beginning to end. On the other hand, readers in ”Dream of Red Mansions“ also have the concept of ”industry“ in their minds. When they comment on ”Dream of Red Mansions“, they also use the notion of ”evil“ and ”karma".
