Cetaceans living in the oceans have extremely sophisticated vocal systems and sound processing systems that use sound to communicate, navigate, locate, find food and evade predators. Severe noise pollution can damage whale-like hearing systems and even lead to the death of living beings. Scientists have found that the low-frequency sounds of large vessels cover the whales’ communication sounds, which in turn affect their activities such as migration. Low-frequency noise can reduce the glucocorticoids in the Northern Atlantic right whales, leading to metabolic disorders in the living body. The intermediate-frequency sonar used by the warships can cause damage to the cetacean cords, causing large-scale stranded. Noise generated by blasting at sea can lead to congestion of the brain of the Chinese white dolphin in nearby waters.
