宁芜线K65+198~+834位于慈湖与马鞍山站间,该段基床翻浆冒泥,线路沉陷,尤其是雨季,更为严重,整段线路“雨天水汪汪,晴天稀泥浆,道上不见枕,遍地黄荡荡”;由于翻浆冒泥、沉陷,轨面变化大,零配件损伤严重,养护工作量大大增加,时刻危及行车安全,曾经过数次处理及整治,由于当时资金紧缺,认识尚不一致,因而基床病害未能彻底根治,随着运量的增加,列车密度和行车速度不断增加,基床病害愈来愈恶化,严重地威胁运输安全。 1914年,对病害经过认真细致地调查和分析研究,采取了综合整治方法,取得了明显的效果,三年来通过九千多万吨运量,基床稳定,轨道几何状态良好,行车平稳,轨检车评分均为优良。
