Objective To explore and evaluate the impact of health education intervention on the self-management of patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 122 diabetic patients admitted to Department of Endocrinology in our hospital from September 2014 to October 2015 were selected and randomly divided into two groups of 61 cases each. The control group implemented traditional health education, and the research group implemented systematic health education. Before and after health education in patients with FBG, 2h PG, Hb A1c and education self-management levels were compared. Measurement data using t test, P <0.05 for the difference was statistically significant. Results After treatment, the FBG, 2h PG and Hb A1c in the study group were (4.7 ± 0.6), (6.3 ± 1.7) mmol / L and (5.9 ± 1.2)%, respectively, significantly higher than those in the control group (5.3 ± 0.5) and ± 2.8) mmol / L, (6.4 ± 1.1)%, respectively. The differences were statistically significant (all P <0.05). After health education, the study group diet control, self-management, exercise compliance, drug compliance, monitoring compliance, and head care scores were (5.26 ± 0.95), (26.42 ± 3.61), (6.95 ± 1.82), (4.87 ± 0.97), (22.53 ± 4.72), (5.22 ± 1.79), (6.24 ± 2.16), (0.81 ± 0.68) ± 1.96, (1.08 ± 0.62) , (5.28 ± 1.39)], respectively (all P <0.05). Conclusion The implementation of health education in patients with diabetes helps to improve their cognition of the disease. While maintaining a stable blood glucose level, it significantly improves the level of self-management.
