With the development of globalization and internationalization in the 21st century,English has taken the role of international communication tool.So the cross-cultural communicative competence has been the must tool for people’s life in 21st century.But nowadays in the college English language teaching,both English teachers and students are aware of the significance of learning,contacting,and understanding the culture of English-speaking countries.With more knowledge of the culture of English-speaking countries,it can help to cultivate the students’ cross-cultural communicative competence,to improve the students’ English proficiency and to promote the progress of English language ability.However,English as an international language,not only it can express the target language culture,but also the learners’ native culture.Thus foreign language teaching and learning should not simply provide students opportunities to learn and know about target culture,it should also fulfill the task of transmitting their own native culture,which is one of objective for foreign language education.Thus,the students should know more about our native culture and have the ability about the English expressiveness of the native culture and with these they can make the real cross cultural communication.
