This paper focuses on several aspects of the translation of public signs from the perspective of cross-cultural communication. It discusses the existing problems and possible causes for Chinese-English translation of public signs and offers some suggestions to establish standard translation of public signs.The author would like to draw a conclusion that an accurate translation of public signs should always take account of the cultural factors in both languages.
