Recently Oman Electricity and Water Purchasing (OPWP) and Muscat Water signed an agreement to build two temporary seawater desalination projects in Quriyat, Muscat and Aseela in southern A’Sharqiyah. Mohan Louqi, chairman of the Oman Hydropower Authority (PAEW), said the signing of the agreement is one of the options proposed by PAEW to address the issue of freshwater shortages in Quriyat, North Eastern and South Eastern Provinces.
