All TCAS aircraft installed in more than 30 seats operated or flying into the United States have been installed. Only the “Concorde” aircraft manufactured by British Aerospace and Aeroflot are the only ones for technical reasons exception. Now that all TCAS2 devices are equipped with improved software, the false alarm rate has been significantly reduced. Airborne TCAS systems work independently of ground-based air traffic control systems to provide crash protection for many types of aircraft. It is a must-have for U.S. aircraft, but both FAA and TCAS maker Credit Suisse, Collins and Honeywell agree that such a safety device will eventually become a device installed on civil aircraft in other countries.
