怀特岛(Isle?of?Wight)是英国南部的一个小岛,算得上是英国的度假圣地,细细游览下来,大概需要三四天的时间。如果捡一些当紧的地方看看,两天也够了。像我们这样只有一天的计划,西线便是首选。当然,岛上大小教堂几十个,古镇城堡林立,如果像唐僧一样逢庙必拜,见塔就扫,估计要住个十天半月了。怀特岛环北岸有许多港口,从Bournemouth,Portsmouth,Southsea或是Southampton出发,都有渡轮前往,十分方便。Yarmouth在历史上曾经被法国攻陷过两次,亨利八世于1547年依海建了一座石头城堡,自此太平。可惜我们去的时候城堡被脚手架围着,只能看见斑驳的墙壁和平台上几尊凭海而立的小炮。从Yarmouth驱车向西,到怀特岛的西南角,就是岛上号称最值得去的Needles park。弃车而行,沿
