外来病害、杂草科研所是美国农业部科研局领导下的,专门从事国内尚未发生的植物病害以及引进国外植物病原防治恶性杂草的研究单位。该研究所有22位博士以及其他助理人员,每年研究经费约200万美元。1 主要任务该所的研究任务主要分为三方面,即植物病害、杂草控制和植物生理,其中以分子生物学、遗传学、生物化学、抗病机制、生物防治等方面有较高的水平。
