In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, ancient Chinese figure painting gradually lost its thriving scene in Tang and Song dynasties. Although some figure painters appeared, few breakthroughs were made. Against this backdrop, the late Ming dynasty - an era of changing thought, has inspired a group of unique figure painters. Chen Hongshou is one of the most representative figures among them. He was able to find a meeting point in the blend of tradition and reality, and displayed his personalities in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties with unique style. It changed the traditional view of aesthetics and modeling to form a unique personal style with far-reaching influence. The formation of this style is not only related to his personality, but also has a profound relationship with the social and ideological and cultural background at that time.
