Measurement of neutron production cross section is very important for ADS application. The neutron producing reaction is often accompanied by γ. Eliminating the γ-ray background from neutrons is necessary[1-3]. In this study, the pulse-shape discrimination capability of an EJ301 liquid scintillator with 20 cm thickness and 5 cm diameter has been measured. The experimental setup is shown in Fig. 1. The plastic scintillator(5 cm diameter, 20 cm length) was 30 cm away from the Pu-Be neutron source, and the liquid scintillator EJ-301 located about 100 cm downstream from the plastic scintillator.
