嘉定白蒜在国际市场享有一定声誉,每年为国家换取不少外汇,是我县农业生产中一项重要的经济收入。大蒜一般在9月下旬排种,5月20日前后收获,全生育期230天左右。一生共长10~11张叶片,2月底到3月初为7叶期,此时进入蒜瓣分化阶段,4月20日左右,蒜瓣长到谷粒大小。从4月20日~5月20日是大蒜生长后期,这时大蒜还保持6~6.5张功能叶片,蒜瓣依靠这些叶片所制造的养份迅速膨大。1979年,我们在华亭邵家生产队,做了剪除后期功能叶对蒜头重量影响的试验,各处理取样100株大蒜,茎粗相仿,绿叶数6.5张,于4月21日
