This article details a gas target chamber system for nuclear reaction experiments. The beam-entrance window for isolating gases is a carbon film about 40-80 micrograms / cm2 thick and the exit particles are measured at a fixed angle of 90 °. Experiments have shown that the performance of this target chamber system is good for energy regions where the incident energy is above 200 keV. The use of a U-shaped barometer in conjunction with an altimeter results in an accuracy of 0.005 mm Hg. Gas target pressure up to 6 mm Hg above. The article also discusses some of the issues related to the gas target nuclear reaction experiments.
