Objective To investigate the relationship between male oligospermia patients and peripheral blood chromosomal abnormalities and Y chromosome microdeletion and its clinical significance. Methods Peripheral blood karyotype analysis and Y chromosome microdeletion were detected in 150 male patients with oligospermia. Control group was 40 cases of normal fertility of men. Results Among 150 male patients with oligospermia, 30 cases were chromosomal abnormalities with an abnormality rate of 20%. There were 8 cases of Y chromosome microdeletions with a deletion rate of 5.3%. The control group of 40 normal men were found no chromosomal abnormalities and Y chromosome microdeletion. Conclusion Chromosomal abnormalities or Y chromosome microdeletions are one of the most important causes of oligozoospermia in males. Chromosomal karyotyping and Y chromosome microdeletion detection are necessary in clinical oligospermia patients.
