徐浩峰电影中人物的价值取向趋向多元,人物个性丰富复杂,对打的一招一式皆有理有据,一拳一脚都打到实处,动作与兵器有源、有型、有力,他摒弃以往武侠电影,凭靠想象制作夸张炫酷特技的理念,以写实的方式展现武术原来的样子。其电影画面具有极简的、作画式的美学风格。徐浩峰通过电影展现了自己的美学原则、多元的价值取向、纪实式的武打动作、优质的中国传统文化,形成了新的武侠电影类型。在这种新的武侠电影类型背后,深受法国导演布莱松“禁欲、苦行、极简”等电影理念的影响。徐独特的美学原则和电影理念离不开他年轻时学习绘画、写作、习武的经历,更离不开布莱松的影响。
