美国是当今超级经济大国,在世界资本主义舞台上后来居上。它自1776年独立后约120年,到1880年代后期,工业跃居世界第一位,把英、法等老牌资本主义国家甩在了后面。到1913年,美国经济实力更为增强,工业生产占世界工业生产的1/3以上,钢铁、煤产量分别接近于英、法、德三国产量的总和。1865年内战结束至1913年这段时期,在美国经济发展史上具有重要意义。当时美国资本主义解除了南部种植园奴隶制的束缚,工农业迅速发展,实现了工业化。这个时期也是美国发展为世界第一工业强国
The United States is now a super-economic power that has come to the fore in the world stage of capitalism. It has been around 120 years since its independence in 1776, and by the late 1880s the industry ranked first in the world, leaving the old capitalist countries like Britain and France behind. By 1913, the economic strength of the United States had been further strengthened. Industrial production accounted for more than one-third of the world’s industrial output. The output of steel and coal were close to the total output of Britain, France and Germany respectively. The period from the end of the civil war in 1865 to 1913 was of great significance in the history of the U.S. economy. At that time, the American capitalism lifted the shackles of slavery in the southern plantations, and the industrial and agricultural sectors developed rapidly and industrialization was realized. This period is also the United States’ first industrial power in the world
