四十年代我在渝教书时见到育才学校的教师爱生如子,师生团结战斗,朝气蓬勃,茁壮成长,不少十二三岁的学生积极参加反美军暴行、反迫害、反内战、争民主、争自由,到处演讲、游行示威、演出活报剧,同前来捣乱破坏的特务展开英勇斗争,非常感动,对育才很仰慕,对陶先生极钦佩。我决心学习育才教师对学生关怀备至的精神,搞好教育工作。陶先生指出:“你的教鞭下有瓦特,你的冷眼里有牛顿,你的饥笑中有爱迪生”。并认为“小孩子有创造力”,它是“千千万万年祖先,至少经过五十万年对环境适应斗争所获得而传下来之才能之精华”,又是需要经过后天的精心培养方能充分
