The island of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean had a second dengue outbreak (Type II and Type I, respectively) in 1974 and 1975. The relatively isolated Pacific island population, its small population and limited fauna provide an opportunity for epidemiological observations that are not possible in the more populated and complex continents. These two outbreaks help to understand more severe dengue fever manifestations. The Kingdom of Tonga consists of more than 150 smaller islands, of which three are the major island groups known as the Vaucluse, the Hawa Islands and Tongatapu. Most of the islands are between 18-22 ° south latitude, most adjacent to the north Samoa, the west Fiji
