荆州博物馆地处楚文化中心,馆藏楚音乐文物数量之多、品种之繁、工艺之精美,世所罕见。1992年该馆专业技术人员在武汉音乐学院蒋朗蟾等专家的指导下,对楚国乐器进行了系列研究,制作出仿楚石排箫、彩绘石编磐、锦瑟、虎座鸟架鼓、卧鹿鼓、十四簧笙等多种古乐器。这些乐器经舞台演奏获得有关专家和观众的好评。现将乐器介绍如下:
