Waxing in many production wells can severely affect well production. Heating is considered a widely applicable waxing process. A patented new system, called Paratrol, developed by the International Oil Technology Company in Houston, USA, provides a way to safely apply current to the tubing string and turn the tubing string itself into a heating element. Due to the current input in this way, the entire wellhead remains grounded. Tubing heating temperature is generally equal to or higher than the waxing point. To date, the most common conventional methods for wax removal include: (1) self-priming blades; (2) chemical methods and hot oil well flushing methods for pumping wells. The heating system discussed in this article is an automated, unattended, and reliable oil well tubing waxing system.
